Salisbury Steak My Style

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 (8 ounce) can v8 vegetable juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon italian seasoning
  • 1/3 cup dried onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup dried breadcrumbs
  • 3 dashes worcestershire sauce
  • 1 yellow sweet onion
  • 1 (4 ounce) can mixed mushrooms
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups beef broth

Recipe

  • 1 steaks.
  • 2 mix the ground beef, v8, salt, pepper, italian seasoning, dried onions, garlic powder, egg bread crumbs and worcestershire sauce together in a medium bowl.
  • 3 form into 6 oval patties about 1/2 inch thick.
  • 4 cover and let sit in refrigerator for 3-4 hours.
  • 5 after refrigeration heat 2 tbs oil in a saute pan.
  • 6 add 3 steaks at a time and brown on both sides until just cooked through.
  • 7 remove steaks and add to gravy pan.
  • 8 repeate the previous 2 steps with the remaning steaks.
  • 9 let steaks simmer in gravy for 20 minutes.
  • 10 gravy.
  • 11 in the mean time slice yellow onion into thin rings.
  • 12 saute onion rings in 2 tbsp olive oil on low heat until very soft.
  • 13 add mushrooms
  • 14 melt butter in the pan and add flour creating a roux.
  • 15 turn heat up to high.
  • 16 whisk in beef broth until lump free.
  • 17 turn heat down to low and simmer.
