Salisbury Steak With Mushroom Sauce

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 tablespoon instant minced onion
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 ounces canned mushrooms, liquid drained, and reserved
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1/4 teaspoon bottled browning sauce
  • 1/3 cup minced onion
  • 1/3 cup green pepper, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped celery
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons minced chives or 2 tablespoons green onion tops
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 dash paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Recipe

  • 1 sauce;.
  • 2 in a small saucepan, melt butter and saute onion until soft.
  • 3 stir in flour and pepper;blend well.
  • 4 add mushrooms and bouillon.
  • 5 add reserved mushroom liquid and enough water to make 1 1/4 cups; stir and cook until thickened.
  • 6 stir in browning sauce.
  • 7 keep warm while preparing steaks.
  • 8 salisbury steaks:.
  • 9 in a skillet, saute onion, green pepper, celery and garlic in butter over low heat.
  • 10 remove from heat and add to remaining ingredients;mix well.
  • 11 shape into six patties, about 3/4 in thick.
  • 12 place on broiler rack
  • 13 broil about 7 minutes; turn and broil about 5 minutes longer or until cooked through.
  • 14 serve with sauce.
