Bacon Wrapped Steak With Balsamic Onion Sauce

Total Time: 1 hr 20 mins Preparation Time: 1 hr 10 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 2 medium onions, sliced thin
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 1/2-2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 lb filet mignon, cut in 4 pieces
  • 4 slices bacon
  • crushed black peppercorns

Recipe

  • 1 sauce.
  • 2 in a large frying pan heat oil over high heat.
  • 3 add onions and lower the heat to medium.
  • 4 add salt& pepper mix thoroughly.
  • 5 sweat onions down for about 15 minutes stirring often.
  • 6 you want the onions very soft.
  • 7 add sugar and reduce heat to low.
  • 8 mix well& cook 5-10 minutes or until most of liquid is absorbed.
  • 9 add balsamic vinegar.
  • 10 mix well cook for 20-40 minutes until sauce becomes a dark rich syrup.
  • 11 steak.
  • 12 pre-heat ove to 450 degrees.
  • 13 heat oil in a oven proof skillet.
  • 14 wrap a piece of bacon around each filet, secure with toothpick if needed.
  • 15 sprinkle steaks with crushed peppercorns.
  • 16 sear each side of filets about 2 minutes.
  • 17 place skillet in oven and bake 10 minutes.
  • 18 steakes will be medium rare.
  • 19 remove filets from skillet.
  • 20 allow to rest 1-2 minutes pour warm sauce over top& serve.
