Student Ragout

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 slices bacon
  • 1 lb round steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 medium onions, sliced
  • 4 large carrots, thinly sliced into rings
  • 5 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • salt and pepper

Recipe

  • 1 in large, deep pot, fry bacon and leave in pot to cool.
  • 2 add steak, garlic salt, salt and pepper.
  • 3 layer onions, then carrots, then potatoes, adding salt and pepper to each layer.
  • 4 add water up to top of potatoes.
  • 5 turn burner on medium high.
  • 6 when meat begins to sizzle, cover pot, and turn heat to low.
  • 7 when potatoes are tender, stew is done.
