Grilled Halibut Steaks

Ingredients
- 5 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup maple syrup (can use 3 tablespoons brown sugar in place of maple syrup)
- 2 teaspoons minced fresh garlic (or to taste)
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce (can use low-sodium soy sauce)
- 1 pinch ginger powder (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 (1 lb) halibut steaks
Recipe
- 1 place butter, maple syrup, garlic, lemon juice, soy sauce, ginger (if using) and black pepper in a saucepan; heat until the butter has melted (about 2 minutes) stirring constantly, then cool to room temperature.
- 2 brush each and both sides of the steaks very generously with the soy sauce mixture, reserving some to brush on the fish while grilling.
- 3 place into a shallow glass dish, cover and refrigerate for up to 4 hours.
- 4 lightly oil the grill grate.
- 5 cook the fish for about 5 minutes per side brushing with remaining sauce (discard any remaining sauce).
