Gammon (ham Steaks) With Whiskey Sauce

Ingredients
- 4 ham steaks
- 2 teaspoons finely chopped onions
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons whiskey
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3/4 cup water or 3/4 cup stock
- salt or pepper
Recipe
- 1 brush steaks with melted butter.
- 2 snip fat to prevent curling, and grill for 7-8 minutes each side.
- 3 to make sauce, gently fry onions in remainder of butter until cooked.
- 4 remove from heat and stir in flour gradually.
- 5 add stock and return to heat.
- 6 add sugar and bring to the boil.
- 7 simmer gently for about 2 minutes to cook flour.
- 8 if sauce seems a little thick, add more water.
- 9 add whiskey and season to taste.
- 10 place gammon steaks on a warmed serving platter and pour on sauce.
