Seasoned Chicken Fried Steaks

Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, divided
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3/4 teaspoon pepper
- 3/4 teaspoon chili powder
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 2/3 cups buttermilk, divided
- 4 (4 ounce) beef cube steaks
- 1 1/2 cups low-fat milk
- vegetable oil (for frying)
Recipe
- 1 in a shallow bowl, combine 2 cups flour, baking powder, and seasonings.
- 2 in another shallow bowl, combine eggs, and 1 cup buttermilk.
- 3 dip each cubed steak in buttermilk mixture, then roll in flour mixture, and let stand for 5 minutes.
- 4 in a large skillet, heat 1/2 inch of oil on medium-high.
- 5 fry steaks for 5-7 minutes, and turn carefully.
- 6 cook 5 minutes longer or until coating is crisp and meat is no longer pink.
- 7 remove steaks and keep warm.
- 8 drain reserving 1/3 cup drippings, and stir remaining flour into drippings until smooth.
- 9 cook and stir over medium heat for 2 minutes.
- 10 gradually whisk in milk, and remaining buttermilk.
- 11 bring to a boil, and cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.
- 12 serve with steaks.
