Pan-seared Beef With Wasabi Sauce

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons wasabi powder
  • 1 tablespoon cold water
  • 2/3 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon chives or 1 tablespoon green onion, snipped
  • 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons tarragon vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 4 (8 ounce) boneless beef steaks
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Recipe

  • 1 in a medium bowl, combine wasabi powder with cold water and stir until smooth.
  • 2 add sour cream, chives, parsley, vinegar and 1/4 tsp salt and stir to combine.
  • 3 cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • 4 (it is important that you make this sauce first, as wasabi needs a bit of time for it's flavors to develop.) in a 10" skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat.
  • 5 sprinkle beef with remaining salt.
  • 6 sear about 3 minutes on each side for rare.
  • 7 reduce heat to medium and cook, turning occasionally, about 5 minutes per side for medium-rare.
  • 8 serve with wasabi sauce.
