Mel's Grilled Flank Steak

Ingredients
- 1 (1 1/2 lb) flank steaks
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup red wine
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon minced gingerroot or 1 teaspoon ground ginger
Recipe
- 1 trim excess fat from steak; score steak on both sides in 1 1/2 inch squares. place steak in large plastic bag, and then in a shallow dish.
- 2 combine oil and remaining ingredients, stirring well. pour over steak. cover and seal. marinate in refrigerator at least 8 hours.
- 3 drain steak, reserving marindade. grill, covered, over medium coals (300-400 degrees) for 6-8 minutes on each side, or to desired doneness, basting twice with marinade. discard remaining marinade.
- 4 to serve, slice steak across the grain into thin slices.
