Ingredients
- Servings: 4
- 1 lb chip steak
- 2 carrots, thinly sliced
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 onion, sliced very thin
- flour, salt and pepper for dusting
Recipe
- 1 place thin slice of onion and 2 to 3 slices of carrots on each slice of meat.
- 2 dust with salt, pepper and flour mixture.
- 3 roll and fasten with toothpicks or thread.
- 4 brown on all sides in melted butter. when all pieces are brown, cover with water.
- 5 add a few bay leaves and 1/4 teaspoon allspice.
- 6 simmer 15 minutes.
- 7 make a paste of flour and water; pour over meat and simmer about 45 minutes more for flavorful gravy.
- 8 watch carefully after 30 minutes to be sure gravy doesn't cook away.
