Pepper Of A Steak

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 4 boneless beef top loin steaks, cut 1 inch thick
  • salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cracked black pepper
  • 1 cup sliced bell pepper, red, green and yellow
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 -1 1/2 teaspoon snipped fresh oregano or 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano, crushed

Recipe

  • 1 sprinkle meat lightly with salt.
  • 2 press pepper onto meat.
  • 3 preheat broiler.
  • 4 place meat on the unheated rack of a broiler pan.
  • 5 broil 3 to 4 inches from the heat to desired doneness, turning once halfway through broiling.
  • 6 allow 12 to 14 minutes for medium-rare (145 degrees f) or 15 to 18 minutes for medium doneness (160 degrees f).
  • 7 meanwhile, in a large skillet cook sweet pepper strips and garlic in hot butter until tender.
  • 8 stir in oregano.
  • 9 spoon sweet pepper mixture over meat.
