Mushroom And Onion Smothered Swiss Steak

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 4 (4 -6 ounce) beef cube steaks
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 4 cups sliced fresh mushrooms (about 12 oz)
  • 1 large onion, cut into wedges
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup a.1. original sauce or 1/2 cup a- 1 bold steak sauce
  • hot cooked rice (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 in large skillet, over high heat, cook steaks in margarine 5 minutes on each side for to desired doneness. remove from skillet, keep warm.
  • 2 in same skillet, sauté mushrooms and onion until tender. stir in flour until well blended. add milk; cook until mixture thickens and begins to boil, stirring constantly. sir in steak sauce. serve sauce over steaks and rice if desired.
