Oriental-style Marinated Flank Steak

Ingredients

- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons sesame oil
- 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1/3 cup sherry wine vinegar
- 3 scallions, chopped
- 2 inches length fresh ginger, peeled and minced
- 3 cloves garlic
- 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon dried hot red pepper flakes
- 2 lbs flank steaks
Recipe
- 1 in a blender, blend together oils, sugar, soy, vinegar, scallions, ginger, garlic, lemon juice, pepper flakes and ¼ cup water until smooth.
- 2 in a shallow dish, pour marinade over steak, turning to coat well.
- 3 let steak marinate, covered and chilled, overnight.
- 4 discard marinade.
- 5 grill steak on an oiled rack set about 4 inches over coals for 5-6 minutes on each side for medium-rare meat and transfer to a cutting board.
- 6 let steak stand 10 minutes and slice thin across the grain.
