Scottish Steak And Ale Over Bleu Cheese Potatoes

Ingredients

- 2 lbs aberdeen angus boneless sirloin steaks
- 1 large yellow onion, sliced
- 1/2 cup beef broth or 1/2 cup beef stock
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1/4 cup blue cheese
- 1 teaspoon green peppercorn
- 1/4 cup flour
- 6 medium new potatoes
- 1/2 cup scottish ale (not beer!)
- parsley (to garnish)
Recipe
- 1 boil potatoes until tender (keep skins on), and then drain.
- 2 mash potatoes with blue cheese and set aside and keep warm.
- 3 cut sirloin steak into four equal parts and then dust with flour.
- 4 heat oil in a skillet and then add steak, onions and garlic.
- 5 cook approximately two minutes per side.
- 6 remove steak and add peppercorns, worcestershire sauce, beef broth and ale.
- 7 stir together, bring to a slow boil, and reduce liquid to two-thirds of the original amount.
- 8 serve steak over potatoes and spoon the brown sauce to cover completely.
- 9 garnish with parsley.
